# Perplexity Cited a Pressonify Release for "Construction API Ireland"

On 25 September 2026 we ran an incognito Perplexity search for **"Construction API Ireland"**. The query names no company. It is exactly the kind of question a developer, a proptech founder or a supplier asks when they are shopping for data.

Perplexity answered with one product: the **PlanningLeads API**. It described the dataset (214,543 enriched records across all 31 Irish local authorities), the access tiers and the use cases. In its sources list, it cited:

**Disclosure:** PlanningLeads.ie is run by Pressonify's founder. This is not an independent customer result, and we are not presenting it as one. It is a clean, reproducible example of the mechanism working on a real query.

## Why the release was cited

**It stated checkable facts plainly.** The release gave the record count, the sources (the 31 planning authorities, commencement notices, tenders), the tiers and the rate limits, in plain sentences. Answer engines lift specific, quotable facts. Vague adjectives give them nothing to use.

**It sat next to the company's own page.** The answer drew on the company's site *and* a separate, structured release that said the same things. We saw the same pattern when [Perplexity recommended PlantGift](/blog/perplexity-recommends-plantgift-citation-economy-validation-2026) on a shopping query: an owned page plus a corroborating release, cited together.

**It was built to be read by machines.** Every Pressonify release is a server-rendered page with Schema.org markup (NewsArticle, Organization, FAQPage), listed in our sitemap, feeds and llms.txt, and submitted to IndexNow when it goes live.

**Perplexity cites releases on category queries.** Independent 2026 research (Loganix; BuzzStream via Search Engine Journal) found Perplexity cites press releases on category questions as well as brand ones, while ChatGPT and Gemini mostly cite them for brand-specific questions. The same research found syndicated wire copy is rarely cited at all.

## What it does and does not prove

It proves that a structured release on a crawlable page can be cited as a source on a **non-branded** query, next to the company's own site.

It does not prove that every release will be cited, or that ChatGPT would give the same answer. It is one query, on one engine, on one day. That is why we track citations per release instead of promising them: every Pressonify release is scanned on Perplexity, and Premium adds ChatGPT and Gemini, with the query and date recorded for each citation.

## If you are announcing something

1. **Put the facts in the release.** Numbers, names, dates, sources, prices. Say what it is and who it is for in the first paragraph.
2. **Have your own page say the same thing.** The pair is what gets cited.
3. **Measure it.** See whether and where you were cited, rather than counting "distribution to 500 sites".
